Foix hosts world junior kayak championships

From July 8 to 13, 2025, Foix hosts the World Junior Kayak Championships

The Junior and U23 Canoe-Kayak Slalom World Championships will be held in Foix from July 8 to 13, 2025. Sponsored by champion Tony Estanguet, they will be held at the Rebech whitewater stadium on the Ariège river (one of the few natural sites in France), which offers ideal conditions for the two canoe-kayak disciplines to be contested: slalom and kayak cross.

Up to 2,000 visitors a day!

In slalom, the aim is to race down a river through a series of gates in a precise order, as quickly as possible, while avoiding time penalties due to hits or course errors. This individual discipline focuses on precision, technique and current management. Kayak cross is a race in which several competitors compete simultaneously on a course of rapids with obstacles to overcome. The city is expecting a huge influx of visitors - up to 2,000 every day! 600 competitors from 50 different countries will compete over 6 days,

For the public, all events and grandstands are free of charge.

  • July 2 to 8: training week
  • Monday, July 7; opening ceremony
  • July 8 to 13: competition week
