At the beginning of January, the snow has finally fallen in Ariège and all the resorts are open. Find out what to do in Ariège this winter, spring and summer!
Where to ski from the Gîtes du Domaine de Ruffié
- Guzet-neige The family resort of the Couserans.
- Ax 3 Domaines Ax 3 Domaines: the queen of the Ariège, where you can practice all snow sports, especially downhill skiing, with its numerous runs for all levels. Almost all its slopes are open with good snow conditions. There are ski schools, mountain restaurants, etc.
The resort is located above the town of Ax les Thermes (7km), famous for its thermo-ludic center and natural hot springs. If you don't want to go by car, the Ax 3 Domaines ski resort can be reached by gondola from Ax. - Beille Belle: a resort not far from the Domaine de Ruffié Gîtes, Belle offers superb views of our mountains. You can enjoy ski touring, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sleigh rides (dog or horse), mountain biking and more. The ideal place to take a deep breath of fresh air and unspoilt nature!
- Snow has also fallen above Ruffié on the Prat d'Albis mountain, and on the Péguère pass (but there the access roads are not cleared...we stop as soon as the snow is on the road!) and our two chalets look superb under a fine layer of snow.
It's happening near our gîtes
- The Château Contal de Foix(the most visited monument in the Ariège region) is currently closed for some time, for major works that will allow access to the foot of the towers for people with reduced mobility. However, the adjoining museum remains open all year round. The museum has recently been restored. It tells the story of the Ariège region. We recommend
- The Ayroule sports complex in Foix will host the 2024 Olympic Games preparation center for slalom canoeing-kayaking, the location is superb and can be frequented in summer.
- In May, the Olympic flame will pass not far from our homes (from Carcassonne to Toulouse, passing through many emblematic sites, Cathar castles, etc.).
The Tour de France 2024 passes through Ariège!
Finally, in 2024, the Tour de France will come to Ariège!
Departing from Loudenvielle, it will arrive at the Plateau de Beille on Sunday, July 14. On the program: the famous Portet d'Aspet and Agnes passes, the Port de l'Hers (near the superb pond of the same name) and the emblematic climb to the Plateau de Beille. The 198km stage will take them through the towns of Saint Girons, Aulus les bains, Tarascon sur Ariège and Les Cabanes.
Of course, all other visits, events and walks are listed on this site, and you'll always find plenty of documentation in our gîtes. We'll also be happy to give you any advice you may need.
