Olympic Games: Perrine Laffont returns to Ariège-Pyrénées with her gold medal

Twenty years after Fabien Barthès, the "divine bald man" goalkeeper for the French national team that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the small Ariège town of Lavelanet is giving a triumph to another native of the region: Perrine Laffont.

It was at the Monts D'Olmes ski resort in the Ariège that Perrine made her return to the Ariege, sporting her superb 19-year-old gold medal in mogul skiing from the lastOlympic Games in Korea.

What a spotlight for this family resort, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year!

The welcome was triumphant and warm, and the joy was there, in this heartland resort where her father is a ski instructor and where she took to the boards at a very young age. The press and officials were there, and Perrine, despite her fatigue, kept her triumphant yet simple smile, answering the many questions with good grace.

A moment of happiness for all Ariège residents!

You'll be able to discover this charming resort this summer, if you come and spend a few days at the Ruffié-Foix gîtes. We'll be happy to point out some pleasant walks in the area, where you'll find cows in summer pasture, chalets, the scents of the mountains, and not far from the venerable castle of Montségur, the last Cathar stronghold.
